Welcome to Extreme Extremities!
Our research and clinical work is all about bionic reconstruction which is a combined surgical and rehabilitation technique. It allows us to change the anatomy of a patient surgically, and rehabilitate that patient so they can make best use of advanced prostheses to replace lost extremity function.
For some, this may involve:
- Rewiring nerves for intuitive control (selective nerve transfers or targeted muscle reinnervation)
- Complex neuromuscular reconstruction to provide new or more myosignals for prosthesis control
- Changes in their skeletal hardware to provide a stable socket
- Amputation of existing futile anatomy to make room for bionic function
For all, the above procedures help patients regain extremity function through bionic means.
